Never one to take his success for granted, Phil Cannella is always looking for ways to give back to the community. That’s why he teamed up with Joann Small, CEO of First Senior Financial Group, and the Crash Proof Retirement Team to contribute to 98.1 WOGL’s Loves Our Kids Radiothon. To date, Phil Cannella and Joann Small are the leading single donors to the event, contributing $65,000 in 2012.
The $65,000 donation for 2012 brings the grand total to $165,000 for the Crash Proof Retirement Team over the past 3 years. In the 11-year history of the the WOGL radiothon, donor have given around $5.5 million to support the efforts of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
The First Senior Financial Group donation carried its own sense of drama this year. As Cannella and Small presented the check, an anonymous mystery donor called in to pledge an additional $10,000 on top of the $25,000 from Phil Cannella and Crash Proof Retirement, and the $30,000 from Joann Small and employees of her firm, First Senior Financial Group.
On hand to receive the check were employees of CHOP, as well as CBS radio, which broadcasts the Crash Proof Retirement Show each Saturday from 11-1 and Sunday from 1-3. CHOP’s director of Retail Cause Marketing and Children’s Miracle Network at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia hobnobbed with Cannella, Small and their guests, as did local radio hosts Ross Brittain and Valerie Knight of the CBS radio program “The Breakfast Club.”
The event was held in conjunction with the Bob Pantano weekly dance party at Adelphia Restaurant and Night Club in Deptford Township, New Jersey. Pantano’s efforts raised an additional $10,000 for CHOP. All told, the WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon brought in $658,272 in 2012, making it another great year for an event that has become a fixture in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
